BB meets weekly during the school term for about an hour and a half, and is run by trained leaders. The program is structured to appeal and hold the attention of the Boys, as well as teach them new skills in physical, educational, social and spiritual areas of life.

Each week the boys learn how to fall in and out on Parade at the beginning and end of the evening. This is a mini form of drill and requires them to behave extremely well. They also observe the older boys in the Company, particularly the Seniors, and see how smart and precise they are on parade showing the Anchors the skills they will learn as they progress through the Company.

We encourage the boys to interact as a group and be respectful of their Leaders and of each other.

Our weekly program consists of a Storytime/Devotion based on Bible stories and/or morals. These are delivered via reading books, showing educational DVD’s i.e. Auto-B-Good, utilizing animated Bible stories on a tablet i.e. “Bible 4 Kids” or talking and discussing topics with the boys.

This is followed by an activity time. Our activities are many and varied encompassing a wide variety of crafts, puzzles and cooking. The craft work is incredibly varied to accommodate the differing skills the boys have. This allows all boys to feel good about the work they are producing. Cooking is one of the boys’ favourite activities. Puzzle time is always great fun and it is a delight when they boys take time to help each other so the group as a whole can solve these puzzles as well as the boys individually finding all the answers.

The last activity of the night is games. We offer the boys lots of different activities i.e. indoor hockey, ten pin bowling, tube crawl, soccer, balloon games, sack races, relays, obstacle courses and a variety of children’s games. When favourite activities are identified we enjoy these more regularly.

As the boys attend each week and participate in the weekly program they are consistently working towards achieving their badges which are presented at the end of the year in our Awards Night. The Anchors can achieve a Green Triangle, Red Triangle and Blue Triangle.

When he is older boys can join the Junior Section (Years 3 – 6), and then the Senior Section (Years 7 – 12) where the range of activities are even broader – more adventurous and challenging – with greater rewards!
