In Seniors (Years 7 – 12) there are plenty of opportunities through the weekly program to have fun, become great friends with others, develop your leadership skills, work well in a team, be introduced to many different types of activities, earn badges (like the Queens Award), and develop very practical skills. Also, a regular part of the program are different sorts of camps and expeditions that allow you to experience life in unique ways. There are also Seniors only social events and a camp run each year, with the opportunity to go on leadership training camps.

The weekly program consists of a wide variety of activities commencing with opening parade where the Seniors set the example for the younger boys. Devotions are held so boys can learn about Jesus and explore Christianity. This is followed by a badge class like Expedition, Environmentalist, BB Knowledge and different skills.

These classes vary each term and have included compass skills, environmental issues, cooking, computer skills, woodwork and BB history. The Seniors learn Drill which promotes discipline. Each evening we run a physical activity for fun and to build teamwork skills.

As part of the Environmentalist and Expedition Badges the boys are required to go on a hike. The length of the hike is dependent on the badge level and have included bush walks on the Bibbulmun track, bike rides around the Swan River or on the Mundabidi trail and canoeing.

One of the badges the Boys complete is Community Service, where they volunteer their time in the community. This is a very valuable and humbling experience and once the Boys have achieved the required community service levels they can continue volunteering their time to achieve the Young Volunteer Award.

The Seniors run special activities throughout the year which have included sleepovers with computer gaming and movies plus an activity such as laser tag, bowling, Bounce, ice skating and swimming. Early each year we run a Seniors camp which often includes canoeing, bike rides, swimming, camping, spotlight and fishing.

The older boys will have the opportunity to attend Leadership Training camps for their Bronze, Silver and Gold badges. At these camps theys meet with members from other companies and make new friends while they are developing their leadership skills. The boys will get the opportunity to apply for a promotion to become a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). An NCO has increased responsibilities like falling boys in for parade, running drill or sport and assisting with badge classes.  This offers a practical way to utilise the leadership skills they have gained through Boys’ Brigade.
